QLD: Haneef lawyers honoured
The two lawyers who helped free Dr MOHAMED HANEEF after he was wrongfully detained
on terror charges have been honoured for their pursuit of justice.
Barrister STEPHEN KEIM SC and solicitor PETER RUSSO were once accused of professional
misconduct .. after Mr KEIM leaked police documents to The Australian newspaper in the
wake of the 2007 controversy.
Within a fortnight of its publication .. the charges against Dr HANEEF were dropped
after prosecutors admitted they didn't have a case.
Mr KEIM and Mr RUSSO have been jointly awarded the Civil Justice Award by the Australian
Lawyers Alliance.
