Qld: So who needs Christmas? We do
A psychologist says if Australians didn't have Christmas .. they'd have to invent something
else to replace it.
Dr MATTHEW BAMBLING from the Queensland University of Technology says the holiday and
catch-up with friends and family is a ritual needed to put a "full stop" to the end of
a busy year.
But he says for people without family or friends to spend Christmas Day with .. volunteering
in advance to help a charity is better than spending the day coping with loneliness.
And Dr BAMBLING's encouraging Australians to open their houses during the festive season
.. to those who don't have loved ones to spend time with.
He says even a once a year invite to someone may be the difference between getting
through Christmas and not getting through.
